Your vehicle’s wiper blades, and windshield washer mechanism, are part of an electronic system consisting of a motor connected to a wiper transmission. The motor and transmission allow the wiper blades to move at various speeds and modes to remove rain, sleet, snow, and dirt from your front and rear windshields. Wiper blades are made of thin rubber and can erode over time.
WHY DO IT
Changing your wiper blades when they show signs of wear or reduced performance is important to ensure they are operating properly. We recommend inspecting and changing your wiper blades twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Utilizing winter blades in the winter is also recommended as they have a protective boot that helps keep your wiper arm and wipers from freezing. It is important to also ensure that you never run your washer fluid to empty as this can cause damage to the windshield washer pump. When refilling your washer fluid never substitute it with water.
HOW IT’S SERVICED
Your Master Mechanic technician will inspect your wiper blades to determine if they need to be changed. Wiper blades are changed by removing the blades from the windshield wiper arm and replacing them with new blades. If your windshield wiper mechanism is giving you trouble, your technician will inspect it and determine the best course of action to repair or replace it.
